Ok, by now you probably think I'm really crazy and have
gotten lost in my own lego world. Actually, I was kinda
lost in my own world and I have Jesus Christ to thank
for freeing me from it. But that's another story for another
time. What follows is a list of definitions that should
help you better understand the terminology used in describing
the lego world I operated in.
Antennae Laser:
A laser that can
target anything within a 360 degree horizontal radius
and a 315 degree vertical radius. It gets it's name
because it discharges the laser from a little ball at
the end of an antennae. This weapon is amongst the weakest
of the energy discharge weaponry but it's ability to
target such a wide range of targets make it very useful
weapon. NOTE: Some early long range communications antennae's
use similar technology so they may appear the same on
some fighters.
Clear Disc Laser:
This is a unique
weapon added to a virtual juggernaut of a fighter ship
called the
Cobra. The reason
was that it was the only currently functioning fighter
that had the extra power generation ability to handle
it. It's a special type of disc laser with the power
of a green level disc laser (that's a Medium power grade)
that shoots cloaked lasers at it's target.
This is a crucial weapon when your opponent has shooting
shields as opposed to normal (always on) electromagnetic
shields.
Cold Fusion Reactor:
While today
this is still not possible, in my legoverse scientists
had long since perfected this technology. It was capable
of creating energy from nothing and thus was an infinite
source of power for everything. The technology operated
in a cell like fashion in that a fighter ship may actually
have several hundred CFR cells operating throughout
it's infrastructure. This allowed for some level of
redundancy of power and more importantly, allowed much
more power generation ability in a smaller amount of
space. However, ships were always limited in how much
power they had available because they had only a finite
amount of space for power generation. The larger the
ship, the more power it could generate.
Disc Laser:
A laser that can target
anything within a 360 degree horizontal radius and 245
degree vertical radius. Developmentally this weapon
came after the antennae laser but before the Photon
Cannon. As far as destructive power it is considered
to be somewhere in between them depending on what grade
it is. It is named such because of it's disc like shape.
Electro-Magnetic Shields:
Ok, so I
totally stole this idea from Star Trek. I make no excuses
but this has turned into quite a piece of equipment
in it's own right. Eventually these were able to withstand
massive amounts of force and were crucial as weaponry
spiraled out of control in the realm of sheer energy
output. They worked by essentially disapating the energy
it was exposed to. However, this also had the effect
of weakening the shields emitters. A problem overcome
with the introduction of the Healing Machine. There
are 5 basic grades of EMS. The higher the number, the
h2er the shielding.
Healing Machine:
A technology that
takes the concept from Star Trek's food replicators
in that it can turn energy into matter and matter into
energy. It is said to "heal" because if a
piece of the fighter ships equipment gets damaged during
battle it is capable of replicating and installing a
new replacement unit almost instantly. Early models
could take a while to do this but they eventually got
much faster as matter formation technology developed.
It's called the Healing Machine because of the almost
magic ability it had to restore what would be otherwise
crippled ships in very little time and thus letting
them rejoin the fight.
Healing Machine Healer:
As enemies
developed the ability to identify and target the area of
the ship the healing machine was located in, it became
necessary to develop a healing machine healer. It was capable
of replacing the healing machine if it were
to be damaged in a fire fight. However, that's all it
was capable of and it stored only enough power to replace
the healing machine once. This wasn't considered a problem
because after the ships, life support, and basic flight
were restored it would regenerate this device as well.
Thus creating an infinite loop of restoration.
Legoverse:
The Lego Universe as I
envisioned it when I was a youth.
Machine Gun:
Ok, this works very much
like you would think a normal machine gun works except
for a few modifications. Namely it has a built in Cold
Fusion Reactor Cell and a built in ammunition replicator.
It is capable of replicating bullets with a forward
inertia already in place. The bullet literally moves
along the barrel as it is being generated. Because of
this, heat is reduced and the latest version of this
was able to deliver up to 10,000 rounds per second per
barrel. Each gun came with two barrels so that would
total about 20,000 rounds per second. Few ships use
these as they are fairly ineffective against the Electro
Magnetic shields that most fighters would eventually
have as standard equipment. Though, early on it was
devastating.
Peg:
Used to reference those little
dimples on just about every lego. These are the things
that actually held the lego's together and allowed you
to created whatever you wanted.
Photon Cannon:
A weapon that discharges
a "ball" of photonic energy at a target. This
is one of the most powerful classes of weapons because
of the sheer amount of energy that can be targeted at
an object.
Secret Weapon:
Featured only on the
Lego Saucer as it's primary offensive capability. This
weapon has gone through three evolutionary steps as
opponents continued to develop counter measures. To
learn more, read about the Lego Saucer and it's Secret
Weapon
here.
Shooting Shields:
A type of technology
capable of delivering high rates of precisely target
rounds in a way that enemy fire is unable to hit your
vessel. Typically the enemy round is able to be detected
and shot before it can damage your hull. Thus creating
a defensive effect with an offensive weapon. This developed
only because of an alien probe that once ravaged my
sector of the legoverse. It's defensive measures alone
nearly crippled the entire force. Even the Lego Saucers
secret weapon was rendered useless in this case. This
is a truly effective defense tactic, unless your opponent
has clear disc lasers.
Ten Commandments of the LegoVerse:
These were developed with a semiserious intent in mind.
These rules don't apply so much to the people in the
LegoVerse as they do to those who play with the lego's
in the legoverse. This especially applies for those
that play with my lego's. I should note that it's maybe
a little corny. But fun never the less. Here they are:
- Thou shalt love thy lego as thy self.
- Thou shalt leave no lego behind...Ever!
- Thou shalt let go of your lego ego.
- Thou shalt not steal lego's.
- Thou shalt be organized.
- Thou shalt be creative.
- Thou shalt use proper terminology when describing lego's.
- If you mix your lego's with my lego's, they become my lego's.
- Lego's Rock!
- By playing with my lego's you automatically accept all the previous commandments.
Torpedo Bays:
These were capable of
firing several different types of very powerful explosive
rounds. I believe there were up to five different types
of rounds. There was the standard explosive round or
dumb torpedo as they were called. There was a magnetic
seeking torpedo in that it sought out magnetic energy,
thus targeting your opponents shields. There was one
that had enough AI to target specific targets on an
opponents ship. i.e. the weapons, shield emitters, engines,
cockpit, etc. There was one that acted more like a decoy
for other magnetic seeking torpedo's. And lastly there
was the energy draining torpedo. Where, instead of damaging
electromagnetic emitters, it would drain the energy
the emitter has to put up the shield. This would either
weaken the shield or cause it to dissipate all together
creating a temporary hole in your opponents defense
while their emitter recharged.
WH Transmitter:
This stands for Worm
Hole Transmitter. The basic thought behind this technology
is that the transmitter opens a very small worm hole
from where it's at to where it wants to send the message
and transmits it using a common short range transmitter.
At this point, it is only capable of sending a message
through the wormhole and not receiving one. This is
used to send messages to other galaxies. This signal
technology has opened up the entire galaxy to the federation,
however scientists don't yet fully understand how it
works. They cannot yet reproduce it as it is alien technology.
For more of the story of how this technology got into
the federations hands, please read

Cobra, and

Probe.
