What is the Lego Saucer? Why is it the flagship of
the Lego federation's battle fleet?
Why is it Square? What is its secret weapon? These are all
good questions that most ask from just looking at it. First
it is sqaure because when I first built it I didn't have
enough lego's to make it, well, less sqaure.
The Lego Saucer is an answer to the need the fleet had
of having a captaining fighter ship. This would be the
ship that would lead the fleet into battle if necessary.
In its day it was the fastest, most maneuverable, and
best-armed fighter in the entire fleet. Especially when
you considered its ever-changing secret weapon.
However, before I get into the specifics lets spend
some time telling the story of the Lego Saucer. The
story begins when a young scientist named Dr. Esnet
Bordos discovered communications from a hostile race
from another part of the galaxy. These communications
suggested that they were planning a take over of our
solar system. He immediately contacted the government
only to be rejected as a lunatic.

You see, at that time no one had ever proven the existence
of life beyond our solar system. His response was to
publish his discoveries and after thousands of other
scientists reviewed his work, most of them came to the
same conclusion. It was only then that the government
listened to Dr. Bordos and formed the Lego Federation.
Its first task was to defend the solar system from invaders.
Every scientist immediately went to work designing new
technologies for defense. The Lego Saucer was created
out of this effort. They had created other space faring
ships before but they had only been policing and transportation
vessels. So, having never created a space fighter before
they embarked upon a mission to defend the solar system.
They created several accompanying fighters but the Lego
Saucer was the greatest and most effective.

So what is this Secret Weapon I keep mentioning. Well,
it's not as simple as it might seem because there
are three different evolutions of it. This is because
enemies would constantly develop technologies to defeat
it or render it useless. The first version is basically similar to a

tractor beam on Star Trek except that it could be used over
long distances and was virtually impossible to break
free from. This would be used to actually move your
opponent's fighter in between you and another
opponent. Thus using your enemy to block shots from
another enemy. The downside to this weapon is that it
doesn't work to well on ships that have electromagnetic
shielding. However, once the Lego Saucer has you in
its grips, it's nearly impossible to raise your
shields. That is unless you happen to have the latest
generation of shields. This weapon alone saved the solar
system from the threat that Dr. Bordos warned of because
a hostile race didn't have electromagnetic shielding
technology. The Lego Saucer would literally throw the
enemy ships into moons and asteroid fields. It was quite
a spectacle. This supremacy did not last however because
there would be more enemies to defend against.
At this point the federation grew as contact with other
Lego races soared. Many joined forces to defend their
home worlds against hostile forces. They shared technologies
and prosperity. However, there were still those who
would prefer to rule rather than cooperate and share.
By this time the federation had developed quite a hierarchy
and even had an under cover unit. This unit was called
the Federation Intelligence Center. FIC discovered hundreds
of races with its long-range sensors and was even able
to strike some semi-stable peace treaties with some
of the nearer ones.
Once the federation realized that the first edition
fo the secret weapon had lost it's edge due to an new abundance electromagnetic shielding.
It decided to create a second
edition or revision of it. This second edition was essentially
like a tractor beam in the sense that it could maneuver

fighter ships around except it got around the electromagnetic
shield limitation of the first edition by creating a
bubble of sorts around the ship and moving all matter
inside of this bubble out of phase with the current
universe. Meaning that though barely visible to the
naked eye, your opponent was in another dimension. The
Lego Saucer would then guide its opponents ship so that
it occupied the same space as another ship and turn
off the secret weapon. This would effectively force
both ships to compete for the same space at the same
time as the original ship came back into phase with
it's native universe. However, it would occur at the
atomic and molecular level so the ships would be destroyed
as the atoms pushed each other apart. This was a very
effective weapon until the technology to stabilize your
dimensional status became available. This is when the
third and final rendition of the Secret Weapon was developed.
By this time the weapons and shields were incredibly
powerful. In fact, the weapons were so powerful that
without the shields to absorb and deflect the impact
your ship would likely be destroyed with just a few
quick shots. That is when the idea for a shield reverser
was developed. What makes an electromagnetic shield
so powerful is that your ammunition can pass through

the shield but it blocks everyone else's from
passing through. Thus creating a shield that doesn't
block your ability to fire upon your enemy. This works
by ensuring that your energy based weapons (Disc lasers,
Antennae lasers, Photon Cannons, etc) are operating
on the same wave length as your shields. What the third
edition of the secret weapon literally does is forcibly
adjust the wavelength of an opponent's shield.
Thus allowing its, and eventually everyone else's,
weapons to pass through your opponents shields but not
your opponents weapons. When your opponent fires his
weapons, it literally weakens his shields. But given
the raw power of current weaponry, most ships didn't
stand a chance. Especially once the Lego Saucer was
given control to synchronize its shields, though briefly,
with all of its ally's ships. This allowed for
multiple ships to attack one incredibly weakened ship.
The final upgrade was the multi-release functionality
that allowed the Lego Saucer to adjust the wavelength
of up to 32 opponents ships at once. Effectively rendering
an entire fleet defenseless. The Lego Saucer retained
the ability to perform all three variants of the Secret
Weapon at all times.

this structure and with the common grade of fighters
that the rest of the federation maintained, the federation
developed quite a fighting force. I would like to say
that they were invincible but as you read about other
ships and there unique battles. You will see that there
were always challenges to the fleet. After all, an invincible
fleet wouldn't be very much fun would it?
